Study of antecedents and risk factors of preterm labour at a tertiary care hospital

Background: Preterm labor is an obstetrics emergency and a threat to population health. The 75% of infant mortality related preterm labor. not only inflicts financial emotional distress on the family, it may also lead permanent disability (physical or neurological damages) in infants. Aim objectives were assess antecedents risk factors for labour their preventive aspects timely diagnosis labour, close monitoring management providing neonatal care. Methods: Study design was prospective study. setting department gynecology at tertiary care centre. duration from 18 months, study included patients getting admitted hospital during period. Sample size 50. Results: Mean age mothers 29.7±5.1 years, ranging 20 43 years. It observed that 84% group 21 35 16% had GA less than 28 weeks, 28% 32 weeks rest 56% 37 weeks. Half all primigravida, gravida 2 22% 3 higher. 6% cases with fibroid, 4% bicornuate uterus one case septate uterus. Surgical history Dilation curettage 18%, previous LSCS 14% hysterolaparoscopy 6%. Conclusions: recommended specialized antenatal patients, who are thought be birth, should performed can bring down incidence some extent.
